Village & Tunney’s Pasture
Island Park, also known as Wellington Village and Tunney’s Pasture, is a vibrant, urban neighbourhood in the the Kitchissippi Ward in Ottawa’s west end. The community borders on the Ottawa River shore to the north, the Queensway on the south, Holland Avenue on the east, and its namesake, Island Park Drive, on the west.
There are two community associations serving the area, giving voice to a growing population. The Island Park Community Association serves the homes located on Island Park Drive, whereas the balance of the neighbourhood is supported by the Wellington Village Community Association.
Considered one of the most prestigious neighbourhoods in Ottawa, Island Park, Wellington Village and Tunney’s Pasture is a popular locale for embassies, consulates and diplomats. The streets are lined with stately, historic residences, most built between 1910 and 1940. The grace, charm and character of the era is evident by the volume of Tudor styled homes still standing today.
In recent years, this tree-lined residential neighbourhood is seeing a shift. A modern, “new Look” as townhomes, semi-detached, infill houses, and condos are being developed. This is bringing a new wave of residents, in addition to a rich, rejuvenated atmosphere. Families considering the area will be contented with the highly regarded public schools, Elmdale and Fisher Park, in addition to the Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus.
Situated minutes from downtown Ottawa, with the popular shops and restaurants of Westboro Village a short walk away, the homes of Island Park, Wellington Village and Tunney’s Pasture are always in demand.
